In 2005, Gayla was contracted by Turning Leaf Wines to serve as a spokesperson for the Leafscapes: Edible Urban Gardening events. Gayla designed and set up seasonal edible container gardens in various locations across the United States and took attendees through the process of planting up windowsill herb gardens and growing the edible plants highlighted at each event.
The first event was in New York in October 2005 and was conducted on the rooftop of an old sausage factory in the Meatpacking District.
